Have you ever dreamed of opening a restaurant? How about 225 across 41 states? Come to the May Luncheon of the Venture Club of Louisville and find out how one local man did just that from a single location in Clarksville, IN.

Kent Taylor had a dream-- he wanted to create a place where the whole family can enjoy great food, in a fun-filled, lively atmosphere at an affordable price. After college, Kent worked in a number of restaurants all over the country gaining knowledge about the business along the way. He actually started his first pub in Cincinnati in 1980. Kent is someone that thinks outside the box, and all through his various restaurant experiences, he was developing a dream for a unique restaurant concept. His only problem was that he had a hard time convincing anyone to help him finance his dream. That was until 1992, when Kent met Dr. John Rhodes and showed Dr. Rhodes his ideas on the back of a cocktail napkin. Kent's dream of Texas Roadhouse became a reality one day when Dr. Rhodes and two others invested in Kent and his plan. Kent's goal was to have 10 restaurants by the company's 10th anniversary. Instead of simply reaching his goal, Kent superceded it and managed to open more than 150 stores in only 10 years!

Kent's successes have been recognized by many organizations including: Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year in 1997 and this then past June he was recognized as Entrepreneur of the Year in a three state region.

If you ask Kent what he believes to be his secret to success, he would tell you that he strives to instill a spirit of partnership with the people that run the restaurants. He works hard to make and keep work fun for each employee...and himself!
